FAQs
What is it?
A water take refers to the removal of water from a waterbody for a particular use. The Motukaraka water take is enabled by gravity siphon located within a stopbank in Motukaraka, which is currently maintained by Waikato Regional Council.
What does it do?
The consented purpose of the water take has been to increase water levels in the Kopuera channel, supporting increased soil moisture, helping to reduce peat subsidence and providing sufficient water in the channel for irrigation purposes.
