Marine Oil Spill Contingency Plan iwi and hapū engagement

The Waikato Regional Marine Oil Spill Contingency Plan 2021–2024* outlines how we minimise environmental and cultural harm from marine oil spill incidents by containing and cleaning up spills quickly and efficiently, with help from key partners and people.

*We acknowledge the current plan may have some outdated contacts or references, those are currently under review

We always want to improve what we do. This is why we want to hear from tangata whenua as we update our plan. Enabling local iwi and hapū to participate in oil spill operations is critical to protecting the marine environment.

We have identified some key areas where we could improve our iwi involvement and engagement, but we want to ask you, as an iwi and hapū representative, for your thoughts so we can adjust the plan accordingly.

This survey should take around five to 10 minutes to complete.
